Man Caves Are Made For Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football is king of the Man Cave. Over some 35 million owners participated in Fantasy Football last year. These so called GM’s spend over 10 hours most Sundays in mid September until late December in the Man Cave monitoring there team. There is no place like the Man Cave to watch multiple flat screens to follow the players you drafted from various teams. Your Man Cave is also the only place in the house that will comfortably seat 10 or 12 league owners during the draft party without disturbing the rest of the family. Of course, beer in an essential in the Man Cave so you now have all the bases covered.

Fantasy Football is the clear cut winner when compared to other fantasy sports that have less than half the number of fantasy owners. In my opinion, there are two main factors that make Fantasy Football more popular than other fantasy sports:

  • Games are played once a week
  • Length of season

Because the NFL season plays most of their games on Sunday, the weekly winner is known in a single day as opposed to Basketball and Baseball which accumulates points over the course of a week to determine at winner. This also makes it perfect for gathering in the Man Cave with the guys every Sunday afternoon during the season. Also, because there is only one game a week, you are not constantly juggling your lineup on a daily basis. Lastly, Basketball and Baseball seasons are one or two months longer, the daily games and management of your team becomes very time consuming and you seem to burnout before the season completes.

Guys gathered in the Man Cave for a Fantasy Football Draft

Fantasy Football Draft

One of my favorite parts of Fantasy Football is – The Draft! Every sports lover would relish the opportunity to make the call on who their favorite team should acquire. How many times have you questioned the moves the GM of your favorite team has made? It’s something about having the ability to call all the shots! You are the owner even if it is just fantasy. Probably, the best part of the draft is all the smack talk among league owners. Who will have the bust of the draft? Who will have the sleeper of the draft? Who will construct a Super Bowl team? What a great excuse for a party with the guys in the Man Cave! I will be recording my leagues draft in a Google Hangout since league owners are spread out across the country. Look for it in a future blog post in early September.

Now that all the 2012 mocks fantasy drafts are online, I’m getting hyped for the fantasy football season. I started playing fantasy football two years ago and I’m hooked for life. I won my league title in my rookie season and lost in the Super Bowl by 5 points last year. I’m looking to make my third straight Super Bowl appearance and reclaim my title. I will also proclaim my team as the dynasty of this decade with two titles in three years. Oh the smack talking I will do!
